Bosprits

Despite the variety of possible natures, bosprit abilities are largely the same. They can use these skills in a variety of ways, depending on their personalities. You can use any or all of these abilities with your bosprit character, as there are no physical traits that accompany them.

Telepathy

All spirits that can talk use telepathy. However only some bosprits choose or are able to talk to humans. Similarly, their methods of speech may vary considerably - do they transmit words, emotions or perhaps just pictures?

Telekinesis

All​ spirits are capable of some level of telekinesis, since their spirit bodies aren't technically capable of holding weight. Again, there is a lot of variation. Some may only be able to pick up things as they would with their 'hands' - small objects right next to them - while others may be able to pick up large objects, or things distant from them.

Illusion

Bosprits have​ the ability to generate illusions by transmitting images into your head, or bending light around objects. The extent of these abilities is highly dependent on the bosprit's intelligence - the more sophisticated their thinking, the more complex illusions they can generate. The physical range of this ability can also vary.

Spirit

Spirits have abilities that living creatures do not, such as becoming invisible and intangible. Bosprit skulls (and any other bones or plants they might have) are 'real' which means they cannot become intangible or invisible unless the bosprit travels into The Between. Travelling in The Between also allows spirits to apparently 'teleport' - disappear from one place and appear in another. This is not an instantaneous process, but is shorter and faster than travel in the real world.​

Elemental powers

Powers that fall into this category, such as hastening plant growth, making sparks or manipulating air, are incredibly rare. Only the oldest bosprits are capable of controlling elements, and even then, their abilities are always minor. They cannot make tidal waves or grow an entire tree in day.
