Anatomy of a bosprit

About bosprits_anatomy.png
Halo
Skull

This is a manifestation of a bosprit's energy, and may appear and disappear at will. The intensity of the halo may be affected by mood or magic, but the overall shape rarely changes.

All bosprits form around a bird skull. This is the only part of them that has to be real and not made of spirit. Bosprit skulls can be from any small bird, for example: sparrow, swift, wren etc.

Mane

Bosprit skulls do not need to connect to the body - they can float above the mane. Manes may be furred or feathered.

Body

The body is usually rounded, with two wings and two legs. Bosprits never have arms (aside from wings).

Wings

Bosprits always have wings. Bird wings are most common, bat wings are rare. They may also have a set of claws visible on their wings.

Feet

Bosprit legs and feet are based on insect legs. They may be chitinous, segmented or furred, with two or more hooked claws.

Tail

The tail is based on small lizards, snakes or rats. It is never fluffy or feathered, and may be somewhat prehensile.

Spirit

Spirit matter makes up all of a bosprit's for apart from its skull and any plants or other bones. However it's not always visible - some bosprits show their spirit in transparent, glowing sections

Miscellaneous

When they form, bosprits may pick up other assorted bones, plant matter or rocks.
